Harvey's release new Coronation Beer 'Carolean Crown'
Lewes, East Sussex - Harvey's Brewery, one of the UK's oldest and most respected independent breweries, is proud to announce the launch of its newest beer, 'Carolean Crown' brewed to mark the Coronation Ale for HM King Charles III.
The lightest beer that Harvey's have ever produced, 'Carolean Crown' is a hop-forward Pale Ale with fresh fragrant citrus notes . Brewed with Plumage Archer barley from Goodwood, Sussex, and a mixture of ‘Golding’, ‘Motueka’ and ‘Sussex’ hop varieties, each ingredient has been carefully selected to reflect the dawn of the new Carolean age.
"We are thrilled to add Carolean Crown to our range of award-winning beers," said Miles Jenner, Head Brewer at Harvey's Brewery. "It is a beer that has been in development for some time and we are very excited to finally share it with our customers."
The draught version is 3.7% abv. The bottled version (4.0% abv) is blended with a portion of ‘Elizabethan Ale’, aged in oak casks, to mark the transition to a second Carolean Era. The label depicts the young Charles Stuart hiding from Commonwealth troops in an oak tree and is taken from Sussex artist Julian Bell’s design for the inn sign of their public house ‘The Royal Oak’ in Tabard Street, London.
"We believe that Carolean Crown will be a hit with beer enthusiasts and history buffs alike," added Jenner. "It is a Coronation Ale that looks to herald a new era, while reflecting on the past. We are confident that it will become a firm favourite with our customers."
'Carolean Crown' is the latest addition to Harvey's Brewery's range of high-quality ales, which includes the iconic Sussex Best Bitter, Old Ale, and Imperial Extra Double Stout.
The beer will be available in cask at selected pubs and outlets, and in bottle from Thursday 27th April in their online shop, Lewes-based Brewery Shop and selected retailers.
