Harvey’s Brewery has teamed up with The Hastings Project to brew a special collaboration beer in support of The Fishermen’s Mission.
The result is RX-IPA, a 5.5% Red Rye IPA. Brewed with a generous donation of Maris Otter malt from Simpsons Malt, the beer blends 235 years of Harvey’s brewing tradition and its unique yeast strain with bold West Coast hop character from Simcoe and Chinook. The grist of Rye, Munich and Crystal Rye adds a rich, complex backbone to notes of sweet red berries, fresh pine, spiciness, and a robust yet refreshing bitterness.Sales of the beer will help raise funds and awareness for The Fishermen’s Mission – the only national charity dedicated to supporting active and retired fishermen and their families. The charity provides financial, practical and emotional support, as well as a 24/7 emergency service for those facing accidents or illness at sea.
This collaboration brings together tradition, innovation, and community spirit to support a vital cause at the very heart of Hastings.
The Hastings Project is a Community Brewery dedicated to brewing beer that raises funds for local charitable and community initiatives. Currently, they support causes such as the Refugee Buddy Project, Little Gate Farm, Hastings Voluntary Action, Roots of Return, and WRAS, with plans to expand further. Their mission is to brew excellent beer while maximising donations to support the most vulnerable in Hastings. To create lasting impact, they aim to establish a venue that doubles as a community hub, generate meaningful social change through fundraising, and offer local people training, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities in brewing.
