At the International Beer Challenge finals on Monday 4th September, Harvey’s was named “Best UK Brewer” having secured more points than any other UK brewer in the medals league table.
In all, the brewery had been awarded two Gold, three Silver and five Bronze medals.
Imperial Extra Double Stout received the “Best Stout or Porter Trophy”.
Now in its 21st year, the International Beer Challenge attracted around 800 entries from more than 30 countries – not just brewing heartlands such as Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic and the US, but also less expected places such as Taiwan, Myanmar, South Korea and Cambodia. The full colour of world brewing was represented, with sty les ranging from dark milds to dunkels, pilsners to porters and saisons to Scotch ales on show. Only 46 beers received a Gold award.
