At Harvey’s, we’re proud to support the arts and provide a stage for creativity in all its forms. Our Brewery depot in Davey's Lane - by day a bustling distribution centre - is also home to the Harvey Warehouse Fringe Theatre, offering a truly unique space for live performance.
In collaboration with The Green Room Productions Theatre Company, we’re bringing Bill Bryson’s Notes from a Small Island to Lewes for two special nights - this Friday and Saturday evening (25th & 26th April).
Join us for an evening of laughter, nostalgia, and brilliantly observed reflections on British life in this heartwarming stage adaptation of Bryson’s much-loved travel memoir.
The Saturday performance has already sold out, but very limited tickets are available for Friday here.

About the theatre:
‘Warehouse’ theatres are nothing new, but one allied to an active distribution centre is something different.
It was constructed, in 1990, by Courage, as a purpose-built distribution depot for their beers in the South East. When the site became vacant, in 2006, it was purchased by Harvey’s. Situated 500 yards from the historic Lewes brewery, it transformed operations, removing heavy goods vehicles from the town centre and providing much-needed storage space. The staff canteen in the warehouse was converted to a training room and it was soon recognised that it could also function as a performing space. It became a much-used rehearsal room for local production companies and the decision was taken to house live performances.
Served by local bus stops and its own large car park, it is also easily approached by foot. Cloakroom facilities, including disabled access, are in place and the reception area houses an attractive bar that operates as a theatre foyer during performance intervals. The space was trialled last year when ‘People Like Us’ by Pippa O’Connor was premiered – in collaboration with Sussex Prisoners’ Families.
The intention is to champion new writing and fringe theatre. In this respect, there was a ready match with The Green Room Productions Theatre Company that operates at Harvey’s pub ‘The Lamb’ in Old Town, Eastbourne. It was agreed with its founder and director, Sandra Cheesman, that she would tour all their productions from Eastbourne to Lewes (or vice versa), thereby reaching diverse audiences in two separate venues.
The Harvey Warehouse resident company, QL Productions, will also stage occasional performances and events.
