A superbly balanced bitter with prominent hop character.
Using a blend of four local hops, water filtered through the Sussex Downs over 30 years, and Harvey's unique 60 year old yeast strain, Harvey's Best Bitter is the embodiment of Sussex.

Finest Maris Otter malted barley is supplemented with a dash of Crystal malt for balance. Our hops are a blend of four different local varieties, to give a distinctive hoppy finish.
Brewed since the 1950s the brew has evolved over decades, satisfying the expectations of the people of Sussex and its adjoining counties.
This iconic best bitter is doughy and caramelly, with top notes of banana and floral spice. Such a gorgeous combination makes it perfect with richer foods that have an element of sweetness – beef massaman would be ideal, with the hoppy bitterness cutting through the sauce.
It would also be delicious with Moroccan tagines, acting almost as an extension to the aromatic stew. If you’re looking for something a little less far-flung, Sussex best is also great friends with soft, mild cheeses (Yarlington would be my pick) and harder mature ones (maybe Sparkenhoe Red Leicester), especially if you serve them with a bit of sweet chutney.
